;
Maternal death or maternal mortality is defined in slightly different ways by several different health organizations. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines maternal death as the death of a pregnant woman due to complications related to pregnancy, underlying conditions worsened by the pregnancy or management of these conditions.
In India, the number of deaths caused due to pregnancy and childbirth has been very high over the years but recent records show that there has been a decline in the MMR of India.
50-98% of maternal deaths are caused by direct obstetric causes (hemorrhage, infection, and hypertensive disorders, ruptured uterus, hepatitis, and anemia)।50% of maternal deaths due to sepsis are related to illegal induced abortion.
Causes of High Maternal Mortality Rate:
There are various reasons for the death of women during their reproductive age (18 to 39 years)that had been the cause of an increase in the maternal mortality rate:
Spread of diseases
Unawareness
Lack of nutrition and unhealthy livelihood
Haemorrhage
Incorrect Treatment
Still many Indian women suffer from lack of awareness about their maternity. Many women die in childbirth or die in childbirth. Lack of maternal awareness is pushing them towards death. We work across India to bring them to that awareness. So that the maternal mortality rate can be reduced in India.
