Awareness for AIDS
Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is a chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus. HIV destroys the WBCs and weakens the human immune system.HIV transmits in one of the three ways – Blood, Pre-natal and Sexual transmission.
Increased awareness of safe practices to prevent HIV infection results in people being more careful and ultimately decreases infection rates.
The Indian epidemic is concentrated among vulnerable populations at high risk for HIV. The concentrated epidemics are driven by unprotected sex between sex workers and their clients and by injecting drug use with contaminated injecting equipment.
Risk Factors : Several factors put India in danger of experiencing rapid spread of HIV. These is:
Unsafe Sex and Low Condom Use,
Men Who Have Sex with Men,
Injecting Drug Use,
Migration and Mobility,
Low Status of Women,
Widespread Stigma.
AIDS awareness is now very important to prevent it. We PHRC have been creating AIDS awareness across India. So that India becomes AIDS free.
